About Me

For a number of reasons I wish to keep my full name and identity a secret, but because of this I will be able to reveal a lot more information about myself.

Age: 32
Education: BS degree in computer science
Current net worth (Aug 2008): $1,321,560
Source of wealth: A software company, an Internet company, and investing in stocks.

I am not a financial professional of any sort; however I do have a lot of experience and knowledge about managing money and investing.

My view of Money

I don’t view money as dollar bills. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I used paper money. Paper money is a thing of the past in my opinion and will probably not exist in a number of years. I only use credit cards, bank transfers, and occasionally checks to pay for things these days.

My view of money isn’t a stack of hundred dollar bills. Money, in my view, is simply a number of credits that you have earned (or received) for whatever reason (usually work). Receiving and building your money (credits) is very similar to a game in my mind. Lots of people play the game and the objective is to get the most of it. Don’t get me wrong though…money is definitely not the purpose of life, but it’s an important part of our world and it is very similar to playing a video game.

In my opinion, the easiest and safest way to get rich is the following: Get a college education, get a good paying job, buy a house, save and invest your money wisely. There a countless other ways to make big bucks out there, but when all else fails, having a good job and the knowledge to save and invest wisely is all you really need to “make it” financially and to provide you with stability during tough times.

Another view that I have about money is how money grows. Generally, if you know what you are doing and you are doing well, the growth of money that you manage should grow similarly to a rolling snowball. That is, the more money you have, the easier it becomes to grow in size. The growth of businesses generally follows this same pattern. As you accumulate more wealth, it does become increasingly complicated and more challenging to manage, however it also becomes much easier to grow and snowball your wealth into huge amounts.
